Sedation Dentistry for Stress-Free Dental Visits

Dental work can seem a little scary at times. Many of our patients come to us from negative dental experiences or physical difficulties (i.e. gag reflexes) that make it hard to relax during essential dental work.

Dr. Alatorre understands these concerns and wants to go above and beyond to help our patients feel good about their dental visits. In this light, we offer sedation dentistry techniques to help our office reach a higher level of service.

Do You Struggle With Dental Anxiety?

Many people get scared of going to the dentist. You may have had a bad experience before or heard scary stories from others, or you may feel that the dentist’s office is a strange and unsettling place.

Whatever the cause of your anxious feelings, our team at Alatorre Dental will do everything we can to make you feel comfortable and have a more positive relationship with dental care. Sedation dentistry is one way we can help both your body and mind relax while we give you the oral healthcare you need.

Laughing Gas

Laughing gas is a popular and common option for oral sedation. It is administered via a mask placed over your nose and will keep you sedated throughout the length of your procedure. Gas levels are monitored by our staff, ensuring that your dental experience is safe and serene.

How Long Does the Laughing Gas Last?

The effects of laughing gas don’t last longer than a few minutes once the mask is taken off your mouth. After you are cleared by your dentist, you are good to go about your day! If you are feeling the effects for longer, you are welcome to wait in our comfortable office until you are safe to drive home or until someone can pick you up.

Oral Conscious Sedation

Oral conscious sedation is not administered in-office, but rather at home in the form of a pill. Simply take the pill before coming into your appointment and you can feel at ease while we do the rest. Dr. Alatorre will prescribe you your oral sedation pill based on your medical history and specific needs.

How Long Does Oral Sedation Last?

Oral sedative pills can last about two to eight hours, depending on which one you take. Dr. Alatorre will walk you through the effects during the initial appointment.
